I wish the world was flat like the old days.  
I was going to post one of those 2008 reflection-type posts, but I didn't have time. Maybe tomorrow? I'm off to Kati's, where her parents are going to let us semi-illegally consume alcohol (legal on her part, illegal on mine). It should be amusing when my mother calls at midnight, as I'm not sure how good I am at pretending to be sober when I'm actually drunk. Generally when I'm faced with a situation in which that skill could come in handy, I duck in the closet. (And that is not a metaphor.) Aaaaanyway, the crux of this:

HAPPY(almost) NEW YEAR!

I love you all fiercely and I hope you each have a fantastic time tonight, whatever your plans may be. Yay for new years and fresh beginnings! (And outdoor hockey games! Although I think Autumn and a handful of others are the only ones who'd join me in that cheer.)

THE WINTER CLASSIC IS STARTING IN NINE MINUTES! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. I'm watching the weird ass Rose Parade thingy right now with the volume on mute because, really, who doesn't think parades are kind of weird? And I'm wearing my jersey and eating this sweetart candy cane (it tastes amazing) and my parents are tearing down the Christmas decorations around me and it's really depressing.

Any way, happy New Year! When are you due back at school?

The Rose parade was weird. I only caught about five minutes but what I saw was definitely strange.

Well, classes start on Wednesday, so I was planning on going back Tuesday. However, my brother has a basketball game Tuesday night, and since classes don't start until noon, I decided to just go back Wednesday morning. It might be a little hectic, but I really want to see him play. Apparently he dominates.

When does your school start? What classes are you taking? How excited are you to be getting back to papers and tests and homework?? Also, when is your spring break?

School starts on the 13th. I have to do orientation and stuff before that since I know where NOTHING is on campus, and I have to meet with the English department to get a few annoying things straightened out. But I'll be taking a couple English classes, hopefully an art history class, some ethics thing that's required, and possibly a sociology class if I can't get into art history. I'm pretty excited to go back since I'm bored out of my mind, but the closer I get the more I realize I'll never have 8 months off in my life again. It's depressing. But I'm definitely getting back into college writing since I've basically written 3 of my sister's college apps essays to help her chances. I remember it's fun yet frustrating writing essays. That makes me weird, right?

What are you taking this semester? And I'm not sure when my spring break is. I'll have to look it up.

OH. I was just thinking about how, after House ends, Hugh Laurie should be the 12th Doctor. SERIOUSLY.

LOL, I love it. No, I totally know all about procrastination that is completely unrelated to schoolwork. Like, for instance, cleaning, or personal hygiene, or getting out of bed in the morning, or watching television instead of doing anything at all that could improve my life. For example.

OH DUDE he SO SHOULD. Did you watch House tonight? It drives me crazy that they keep changing the night it's on, I almost forgot about it. He looked really attractive tonight.

Nope, didn't catch House. It's on Mondays now? That's weird. Maybe my Tivo recorded it. It's supposed to do a season pass on House. Sometimes it ignores my commands, though.

I spent 8 hours Sunday writing a "short writing" assignment that was a mini English essay. 2-3 pages double-spaced is not a short writing essay to me, especially when it's based off a 30-page language essay in a book and I have way too much to say to condense it into something "short". And I take back my comment about essays being fun. They suck.

I met two Brits at the orientation. They were both at Rollins to play Tennis, and so was the Swiss kid we all ate lunch with. Weird. But I'm liking Rollins. It's such a small campus, so I've learned just about where everything is within the first several days. It's so different than Michigan.
